What is a good homepage/website?
Although simply having a website is better than nothing, it still pays to do it well, as a website is the front door to your business. All serious businesses have a website these days, and in digital competition, the one whose website is designed to win wins.
Especially if selling online is important to you, a “good” website is not enough, you need a “great” solution.
The characteristics of a good website are:
Well designed and functional
Your website represents your company, products/services and your brand. That’s why it’s important to be visually appealing and professional. Or comical or whatever your brand embodies. Allow for white space, but also show images, videos. The website must also be interesting to the potential user, because inevitably, in the digital world, you are competing with the most entertaining. Often, an interesting image or video is the one that keeps a web visitor from wandering off to somewhere else at a critical moment, but keeps them on the website.
It is equally important that the website works quickly, correctly and as expected. If your website takes longer than a second to load, the user will close it. Create according to web standards, constantly check for typos and regularly test for speed and functionality. Zone founder Peeter Marvet recommends that all entrepreneurs review their online user journey every morning.
Easy to use
Web visitors are always in a hurry. Don’t make them browse and search for information. User experience (UX) plays a key role in helping visitors use, understand, and stay on your website. Make navigation clear and logical, where the user can immediately understand which button leads where and how to find the main things. For example, if you know that your visitors are most interested in a certain product, highlight it prominently on the homepage or put a corresponding button in the menu.
Your website should cater to both “searchers” – those looking for something specific, and “surfers” – those just browsing.
Mobile-friendly
More than half of web traffic today is mobile and this is growing every year, so there is no debate here. Mobile-friendliness is also necessary for search engines. Google will not rank websites higher that are not mobile-optimized.
Fresh and high-quality content
Be concise, interesting and new. Use vocabulary that your users understand – avoid jargon, corporate jargon. For example, don’t say “we repair cars”, say “we repair cars”. The attention span of web visitors is mercilessly short, so get to the “point” quickly. It’s worth avoiding long introductions and repeating yourself.
Update your website regularly and add fresh content. This will give visitors a reason to return and help your website be found in search engines.
Quickly find contact information
Your target audience isn’t going to follow you. Give them a way to easily contact you. Include multiple ways to contact you: phone, email, social media, inquiry form. Adding Google Maps is a bonus.
A clear call-to-action
If a website doesn’t ask visitors to do something, they won’t do anything. What is the purpose of your website? Is that purpose clear to users? News and information websites also ask users to read and share articles, follow you on social media, download materials, and join your mailing list. What could you ask users to do?
Optimized for search engines and social media
For a website to have meaning, it needs traffic. Therefore, the website must be optimized for search engines and easy to find. To do this, you need to map out keywords that users could use to reach you by Googling. These keywords should be used in website titles, meta tags, and image alt tags.
vDisain keeps all of the above in mind when creating a website. So when you start working with us, you don’t have to worry about it, but the collaboration will go better if you know the basics of creating a website.
We designed a new corporate website for Ait Nord, where their products are well presented. It is a custom solution that uses the latest design trends. We created different design concepts for the client, chose one of them and based on that, created tab designs. We also worked on content creation and multilingual development.

What does creating a website look like?
The client provides input on what is needed and vDesign looks at how to best solve it.
Questions we ask:
- What is the main purpose of the website?
- Who is your target customer?
- Where do your customers come from now? What marketing channels have you used?
- What exactly do we need to display on the page and what content should we include? Will the content be created by the client or by a professional copywriter?
- What images do you already have and what do you need to get?
- Who are your competitors and which of their pages do you like? What sets you apart from your competitors?
- Which of our works do you like, or which pages in general have stood out to you?
- How many content pages do you need to create? What other content pages do you need to add?
- In how many languages should the website display information?
- Are there any special requests regarding functionality?
- Do we build the page on a design template or let a Golden Egg-awarded designer do the design?
- How would the old logo fit in with the new design? We may need to create a new visual identity.
- What is a budget?
Once the mapping is done, the designer will decide on the website design. Once it is approved by the client, the website will go into development.
What is WordPress website creation?
The world’s most popular environment for creating a website is WordPress. It is one of the fastest and most affordable solutions. It is possible to use thousands of existing templates and WordPress also offers a simple user interface that makes it easy for the website owner to make further changes to the website and does not need to know how to write code to publish new images, articles or change a few words on the front page.
Take a look at the websites created for WordPress by vDesign.
Our designer created concepts for Silver Ehitus and we developed a premium quality website on the WordPress content management platform.

What are the advantages of creating a website with WordPress?
- WordPress has many templates to use, which makes creating a website quick because you don’t have to reinvent the wheel.
- As an addition to the previous point: Despite the templates, WordPress pages are extremely customizable and you can change and create anything there.
- WordPress supports all kinds of media types.
- WordPress has great support and a large community of millions of users, so there’s usually a helpful blog article or YouTube video for every problem.
- Websites created with WordPress are search engine friendly and Google ranks them higher than websites on other platforms.
- WordPress is secure. Since WordPress has the largest market share of any platform, it is extremely important for them to keep their websites secure. And if it wasn’t secure, big names like TED, TechCrunch, UPS, and CNN wouldn’t be using WordPress.
What is the price of creating a website?
The largest part of the price is determined by the budget provided by the client, within which vDisain would deliver.
But the production budget is mainly influenced by the following factors:
- Number of subpages
- How many languages should the website be in?
- Design level. Do you need a simple design or a beautiful and high-end design?
- Text level. Does the website text need to be written at a high level or is simple wording sufficient? Accordingly, the project manager knows what level of copywriter needs to be involved in the project.
- E-shop functionality. Should it be possible to add products to the shopping cart and pay for them on the website?
